heya

apparently angelfire has now agreed with its brother tripod, and no longer allows outside hosting of pictures. so i had to google around and, looking for another free website hoster that lets you host/link pictures, i found an awesome site: ImageShack. i'm just starting to try it out, but so far it looks pretty damn promising.

creepy

i just noticed, looking back on the 2003 compsci home, that i'm looking creepishly like my avatar.

that is all.

honestly

i've been meaning to do some updating on this site, but as it were i've been extremely busy this quarter, what with physics and drama and other sanity-consuming things. it also doesn't help that ie has been irregularly evil the past few months. anyway.

i've been adding files (mostly links) in the misc directory, which will eventually turn into another internal site (a decent one, as i'm going to attempt to do all the html/css myself). other than that, i haven't been on the web design binge that usually keeps me occupied, so i haven't updated anything on the main compsci site. don't know exactly what to add there either, so besides some pictures and informational links, i think the compsci part of the website is pretty much completed.

my next focus will should be the yearbook/slideshow thing that i've been planning on doing this year. and it seems the year's almost up. so.

wisdom for the day: studying for a physics exam really helps. or so i've heard.

(ie) problems

ie finally crashed completely sometime last week. my dad loaded a temporary ie file back on the computer (temporary meaning it still crashes, only you can get around it by following a series of links and deleting certain files. at least on my account). granted, ie's been sick for a long time, but i didn't figure it hated me so much as to only crash on my account every time i get on. i guess it's karma for bitching out my computer so much and threatening to get a mac.

needless to say i've been beyond busy the past two months, so i've had no real time to spend on the computer. but hopefully in about three weeks i'll be able to get back into a regular updating schedule.

wisdom for the day: never think that murphy's law won't apply to your situation. it just likes to wait until you least expect it, and then it screws you over.

dl's and css

i finally spent some time googling to find out if dl's can be set up in css, which they can (found style-sheets.com, good reference). and so i set up a dl in the links page. i'm not completely sure if different browsers will recognize it, that was a little sketchy from what i read, but as long as it works in ie things are good. so.

not much time to do much else, as i should be working on homework/research paper right now. but hey, three day weekend, which means i can spend two of them on the computer.

wisdom for the day: get your applications for things in way before deadline. it will save you the stress of doing it all in the last week. or day, as it were.

too. much. code.

i spent about four hours on here yesterday changing code in the majority of the pages, adding links, fixing the css, trying to change the tables. thankfully i didn't crash my index page (thankfully because i didn't save the original code like i usually do so when i really mess up i can revert back to original code).

too tired. need break. off.

checklist

apparently blue text on black background is hard to read. but i still like it, so it most likely won't change. and besides, that's a lot of code to change to fix it.

new links page added, since i've been meaning to do that for a while now. and i still have to go through and add the link to the rest of the pages, but i'm too lazy to do that right now.

wisdom for the day: don't like your parents snooping around your computer? don't want teachers at school finding your blog? just really really paranoid like me? you're in luck (well, not about that paranoid thing, that'll just drive you insane). if you have internet explorer, go into Tools > Internet Options... > General (tab) > Clear History. also, you can delete the temp files and cookies put on your computer with Delete Files and Delete Cookies.

have a nice day.

i need to make another page

i have to put these somewhere where i won't lose them.

anarchist cookbook. sort of.

how to hotwire a car.

i am in no way responsible for your delinquency.

note to self(s)

do not try to teach yourself javascripting, as it will cause your head to explode.

that is all.

november sweeps

here's a special tip for all you people who happen across this website: don't EVER change the text size in your browser when you're creating a new page in html. somehow the text size in my browser got set to "smallest" when i was creating the flickerstick ring tone page, and so i changed tags to fit how i wanted it to appear. bad idea. i thought "hmmm the headings look too small...", so i changed them all to be bigger. and then i started changing other pages headings to be bigger too. it didn't help that i couldn't find text size in my browser menu (it's under view. whoda thought). i finally changed the browser's text size, but i couldn't remember what size i had it on before. long story shorter, i remembered i had it on medium, and then i had to redo the html in the pages i "fixed". such a pain.

in other news, my hatred for my computer has doubled, and i'm finally looking into mac. it's not that pc's are bad, oh wait, it is. the only real "windows" program i use on a daily basis is word, and macs have word. so no problem there. now all i have to do is re-learn my computer skills on a mac.

i got the flickerstick ep/dvd beginning of the month, but i've had no time to decipher the lyrics to it yet. but that is coming. i'm actually going to do a re-fix-up to my files (subdirectories. again) and streamline all the flickerstick related pages. or at least i want to.

and now i must be off.

file fix-up

yesterday and today have been spent rummaging through my file manager and moving files into directories. now i won't have to sort through 52 billion files to find the one i want.

added some more html and all of the flickerstick lyrics that i have (which i've been meaning to do for a very long time), including the new stuff on cac that i don't have lyrics for (there's three lines in "telling", and i have absolutely no idea what brandin's saying. hopefully they'll be on the new lp like he promised). and in other flickerstick news, the new ep/dvd (to madagascar and back) that i preordered a forever ago is finally being shipped this week. so i'm sure i'll be putting more flickerstick lyrics on here very soon.

long time no update

so i've finally gotten back on track with updating some of the stuff around this site. mostly in unit 6 (html), but a few other things here and there.

like this page for example. like i've said before, i originally wanted my index page to be a blog, but since i refuse to use tripod's blog builder (which is really crap compared to blogger), it never happened. so, since i'm so stubborn i just decided to add another page that i could update. in html. the reason why i switched to a blog. bah.

another thing to bitch about:

apparently it's not enough for tripod to put one gaudy add on the top of the pages, no, they have to put another one at the bottom of pages too. no one is safe anymore in this free hosting world. i'd almost rather have popups.

why would i rather have popups?

because the google toolbar blocks popups. i knew that thing had to be good for something, and apparently it is. now i don't have to deal with all the stupid popups about "you won the lottery" or "click here to get rid of popups". and, as a plus, the toolbar has blogthis on it, which rocks if you have a blogger blog.

this is the wisdom i impart on you children for the day: get the google toolbar. it's totally worth it.
